Pregnancy

Pregnancy

During pregnancy, your body undergoes significant hormonal, postural and physical changes.

As your baby grows and your centre of gravity shifts, your spine shifts too. This initiates a ripple effect-stressing your musculoskeletal and in turn the function of your nervous system.

Lower back pain during pregnancy is common and there are many other pregnancy-related aches and pains we help with including round ligament pain, sciatica and thoracic tension.

Round ligament pain

The round ligament is a ligament that connects the uterus to your groin. The purpose of the ligament is to hold the uterus in its position during pregnancy. During pregnancy, this ligament can be stretched, which can produce pain.

Round ligament pain is usually a deep sharp pain on one side of the belly button or a stabbing and stretching sensation in the lower belly and groin.
